CIT Program

At Camp Independence we believe that everyone is a leader and are given the opportunity to recognize and develop their leadership potential while at camp. We refer to our youth leadership and development program as the Counselor in Training Program, or The CIT Program. This program is broken down into 3 groups.

The Leaders In Training

The first group is The Leaders in Training, or The LIT's. This group is for all campers ages 13-18, these students typically are going into their 9th-12th grade. The LITs will get to participate in special leadership and development activities while at camp.

Junior Counselors

The second group is the Junior Counselors, or JC's. This group is for campers ages 16-18, these students are typically going into their 11th or 12th grade. Campers interested in being a JC must apply by completing a Junior Counselor application packet in addition to The Camp Independence Camper Application. Applicants will be notified before camp regarding whether or not they were chosen to be a Junior Counselor.

Assistant Counselors

The third group is the Assistant Counselors, or AC's. This group is for Individuals ages 18-21, who are no longer in high school, who are interested in being a counselor.
